Vesterday'h issue of tbe ‘‘Dominion” contains a long account of u remarkably successful gnthering, held tinder the auspices of the New Zealand Efficiency League al the Wellington Town Hull on Sunday night.. The meeting was addressed by the Rev. Father Cumin ami by Mr. Charles Todd, a prominent Dunedin lav man of the Roman Catholic Church. Extraordinary interest was evinced -in the “Dominion's” own words: “Long before the time for the meeting to eoiiimence, the big hall was crowded in every part. The overflow was sent to the Concei t Chatnber, and still before tlie hour appointed for the meeting to com meme the doors had to he locked. Numbers of people still -.ougii t. in I mi I tanec. Father Cumin quoted eminent (,'atholic dignitaiies in favour of Prohibition; 86 per com. of tlm population of Quebec was Roman Catholic, and iT.iiiiim ion was only carried in that Canadian province through the ellorls ol the Cal liolii-clergy. Indeed, thirteen !v<mi:in Catholic bishops there, including ( ardimtl Begin, of the Diocese of (.iueliee, stand absolutely and wholeheartedly tor complete Prohibition. Father ( ronin and Air.
