OBITUARY.
CYRIL WILLIAMS. The death of Cyril B'zetham Williams, news of which was received from Featherston this morning, cast a gloom over Hastings and the surrounding district, where he was known so well and held in such sincere affection, not only by his intimates but by th(e community at large, to whom he endeared himself by his simple straightforwardness, and his high character as a gentleman. Deceased, who resided at Atua, Otane, and who was 40 years of age, proceeded to Featherston at the time his brother, Edric, was stricken with influenza, to look after him, and he took the malady himself, succumbing to its attack. He was the third son of the late, Air. J. N. Williams, of Frimley, and he inherited the kindly’ trat s which so distinguished his father, and which will perpetuate hi- memory in Hawke’s Bay. Deceased served as an officer in the Imperial Army through the Boer War. He married a Aliss Wilder, a member of a well known family in the South Island, and he leaves a family of six children, with whom profound sympathy is expressed in their sorrow.
