>1 TO STAND THIS amwdSrr season At “Soutra,” A RIVERSLEA, HASTINGS. Brown Horse, KILBOY (8), 1913 By Kilbroney (2)—Cyre (8), by CJyrenlan Miss Delaval, by Seaton Delaval— Campania, by Robinson Crusoe, and running back to Lady Chester (imp.) by Stockwell. Kilbroney, the imported sire of Kilboy, was by The Wag (19) (halfbrother to Childwick) from Innismakill, by Lareno, and proved himself a great stayer, winning, among other races, two King’s Plates, the Goodwood Cup (2f m.), the Great Metropolitan (21m.) and the Summer Handicap (2m.), and running Lemberg to a neck in the Doncaster Cup (2Jm.) in 3min. 39sec., carrying lOst. Cyre, the dam of Kilboy, was by Cyrenian, a son of St. Simon. She never raced herself, but her dam, Miss Delaval ,was a notable performer, winning, among other races, the Auckland Welcome Stakes, Musket Stakes, and Derby (beating Seahorse and St. Ilario), the Canterbury Oaks, and the N.Z. St. Leger, winding up her racing career at 4 years old by finishing within a neck of Fulmen and Ideal, the dead-heat winners of the N.Z. Cup. Kilboy himself raced at 2 and 3 years only, winning at the former age the Canterbury Challenge Stakes (1000 sovs.), and being beaten by only half a head for the Canterbury Champagne Stakes (1000 sovs.). At 3 years he won the A.J.C. Derby (5000 sovs.), and, returning to N.Z., was unbeaten there, winning the Great Autumn (1300 sovs.), the N.Z. St. Leger (550 sovs.), and the Trentham Gold Cup (1000 sovs.), finishing in front of Desert Gold, The Toff, and Sasanoff (Melbourne Cup winner). Kilboy is an all-brown horse of most kindly disposition, standing ,16 hands, close to the ground, and combining rare quality with great power and substance, and was admittedly one of the best stayers and gamest horses N.Z. ever produced. A young, vigorous, masculine horse, unimpaired by any Iqng training, and with such lineage, conformation and performance, Kilboy can scarcely fail to get winners. FEE: TWENTY’ GUINEAS (No Groomage).
