Captain F. E. Ford. A.D. of E. and 0.5., Palmerston North, is on an official x’isit to Napier. Miss Joyce Griffin, of Napier, left by* mail train this morning on a holiday visit to Auckland. Mr. and Mrs. George Ormond.of Mahia, who have been visiting Wellington, arrived in Napier hv mail train last evening.

Mr. J. D. Macdonald, of Sydney*, who is touring the Dominion is at present in Napier, lint motors through to Taupo to-morrow. Mr. and Mrs. A. McKinnon, of Arapawanui, who have been visiting Christchurch, arrived in Napier last night.

Mrs J. W. Cleary, of Hastings, has received word stating that her son, Company Sergeant-Major 11. 11. Mackrell, M.M., was transferred to the base depot, France, on January 30th.

Captain Carmichael, member of the N.S.W. Legislative Assembly', who has been wounded while on active service, is expected to arrive at Sydney this week. The death is announced at Auckland to-day of the Rev. A. H. Colville, M.A.. vicar of St. Sepulchre’s Church, following an operation for appendicitis.—Press Association. Air. and Mrs. Levin, of Fielding, have arrived in Napier, it being their intention to send their children to one of the Hawke’s Bay colleges. Airs. D. Canning and Miss Canning. Oakbourne; Air. and Mrs. Burns, and Mrs. Major, Auckland ; Messrs Nattrass and Foster. Wellington ; are among the visitors to Napier, staying at the Alasonic. Visitors at the Caledonian, Napier, include: Air. and Mrs. Gardiner and party, Wellington : Air. and Mrs. Graham and child, Gisborne; ?dr. and Mrs. Sheppard, Auckland. The latter leave for Gisborne tonight. The following visitors left Napier by car this morning on their return home : Aliss Alackay, Ohurakura ; Air. H. Bodley. Te Pohue; Aliss Te Pohue. ; Mr. J. Nicoll, Hakamoana.

Mr. C. Kilgour, of the Palmerston North telegraph staff, has been promoted to be Postmaster at Otane. Mr. Kilgour has been a most efficient officer and will carry with him the good wishes of a large circle of friends in Palmerston. He takes up his new duties in - about a month's time.

The Rev. F. B. Redgrave, ALA., who next Sunday is to be instituted as vicar of St. Andrew’s Church, Port Ahuriri, began his ministerial career ns curate to Bishop Sedgwick in St. Luke’s Church, Christchurch. Fie then went to England when he was for some time one of the staff of the Leeds Parish Church, one of the most famous parishes in the Ohl Country. For the past four years lie has been vicar ot Lincoln in Canterbury where he is well known in athletic circles, especially as a Rugby referee.
