Most important is it that the smoktr should know the percentage of nicotine in the tobacco he uses—for even th'’ most robust constitution is undermined by this poison when absorbed by the system regularly and in large quantities. American tobaccos contain as much as 4 per cent and 5 per cent of nicotine. Smokers will be interested to learn that our New Zealand tobacco contains onlj’ 11 per cent of nicotine. Small wonder that it is so much milder and less harmful. New’ Zealand has now’ its own tobacco industry, and we can well be proud of the local product. Recently the quality of Gold Pouch tobacco has been greatly improved, and nothing more perfect and purer can possibly be produced than the new’ blend of Gold Pouch which excels all foreign tobaccos in mildness, in flavour and combustibility. Cigarette smokers should use Three Diamonds, likewise N.Z. grown, but quite a new’ type of a ripe, brown colour which does not leave that sharp and bitter after-taste so common to most yellow tobaccos from abroad. One packet will do for 50 full-sized cigarettes. As a special precaution the pouches are now all paper lined.*
