An inquest into the circumstances surrounding the death of Rena Margaret Smith, aged 3 years, daughter i of Mr. Henry Smith, of Port Ahunri | who died at the Napier Hospital yesI terday morning, was held at that ■ institution this morning before Mr. •H. W. Brabantj coroner. Constable ‘T. Wilton appeared on behalf of the I police. Evidence was gi ve n to the effect that recently the child had by some means taken caustic soda when a relative who was making use of it for domestic, purposes was absent from the room. Medical evidence was given by the doctor who attended the deceased child, and a verdict was given accordingly that death was due from a structure of the gullettj due to caustic soda poisoning. i

A large quantity of ether and petrol bombs was found in a; passenger train between Zurich and; Schaffhausen. Arrests disclosed; that there is a spying organisation in Zurich similar to the one at Lugano which implicated the ex-Ger-rnan Consul, Afolkrecht. A Socialist newspaper asserts that the organisation is really criminal ; and contemplates a series of city and railway murders. There is reason to believe that the police are the in- ( stigators and shared in the sanguinary outbreak on the 17th. j
