The vessel was torpedoed on Sunday. Three boats arrived. The remainder of the crew are missing. A FORTNIGHT’S CAPTURE OF SUBMARINES. ITALY SAFE FROM FURTHER INVASION. Mr. Hosier, Councillor of the British Embassy, in a speech, said the Allies sank or captured 39 submarines during the fortnight ended November 15th. Mr. Hosier’s statement is unofficial and not confirmed. THE TORPEDOED ROCHESTER. SUVIVORS ENDURE TERRIBLE SUFFERINGS. (Received 29, 8.35 a.m.) * New York, Nov. 28. The survivors of the torpedoed “Rochester” have arrived after enduring terrible sufferings. They were five days in an open boat in the intense cold, had little food and were waterless for two days. Three died when, within sight of land. ;
