CLIVE BOY’S COMFORT SOCIETY.
A SUCCESSFUL DANCE. Another of the popular dances under the auspices of the Clive Boy’s Compol't Society, was held at the Public Hall last evening, and proved to be the most successful effort since the inception of the Society. The amount realised, clear of all expenses was £26. which will help greatly to swell the society's funds. Motor bus and car loads both from Hastings and Napier attended the dance, there being Well over 80 couples present. Despite the heat, everything was arranged for the comfort of the. dancers, for whom the music was supplied with her usual pleasing taste, by Miss Stewart. In addition Mr G. Briasco (violin) Mr Jack Johnson (trombone and cornet), and Mr Tom Skittrup (cornet), kindly gave their services to add to the good quality of the music. Musical items were rendered as follows : , Songs, Misses Mackey and B. Stairmand’; (duet) Levy, Sta-irmand. Messrs F. Newcombe Hall, S. Skittrup and Carl Bridges : recitation,' Miss Dalton ; piano Misses S. Stairmand, N. McKeesick; violin, C. Briaseo. Extras were played by Misses D. Kelly and Nellie McKeesick. Three cake competitions were, won as follows No. I Mr McKenzie ; No. 2. Mr Tom Kennerley (on active service) No. 3. (for soldier on active service), Mr Jack Beck ; cushion, Mrs T. Wilson (Auckland). Mr Jim Cushing acted as M.C. Tho supper provided was of the best, and reflects great credit on the ladies concerned. The secretary Mr )V. Kelly is to bo congratulated on this big success.
