AIR RAIDS AND REPRISALS.

VENICE BOMBED.

[AUSTRALIAN AND N.Z. CABLE ABS’N.) Rome, Aug. 16. A grpup of enemy aeroplanes bombed Venice at daybreak on Tuesday. A bomb fell in a hospital, killing two and wounding 21 patients. The material damage done was slight. Italian anti-aircraft guns brought down several raiders.

The Italian, air squadron immediately carried out reprisals, and successfully bombarded the enemy’s coast and a group of Austria* destroyers. The machines returned safely. [AUSTRALIAN AND N.Z. CABLE ABB’S.] London, Aug. 16. An Austrian official message states: In reprisal for the aerial attack on Pola numerous aeroplanes attacked the maritime arsenal at Venice and successfully dropped four tons of bombs. They observed good hits and conflagrations. Three machines are missing.
