Reviewing the work of the Education Department, the Hon. A. G. F. James, N.iS.W. Minister for Education, said that chidren in isolated districts who find it impossible to reach school, should be taught by correspondence. Owing to the operation of the Licenses Reduction Board in Victoria, 139 hotels were closed in 1916, involving £81,158 compensation, which is to be paid by the surviving hotels.
