CORRECTION AND APOLOGY*. 1 TN the issue of the ‘‘Tribune” of -*■ Tuesday, October 17th, in the report of the proceedings at the Napier Magistrate’s Court, under the heading ' “Adulterated Mijk,” appeared the following paragraph: —“Health Inspector F. B. Gardner stated that he purchased milk at Bryant’s shop for the purpose of analysis. It was subsequently found to have 25 per cent, of added water.” This paragraph gave an entirely incor- ; rect report of the Health Officer’s evidence. The statement actually made bv Mr. Gardner was as follows: — i “ The Government Analyst found that the milk solids—other thaiy fat—were | only deficient by decimal 14 per cent., * and that calculated from freezing point the milk contained 4.5 per cent, of added water—such sample containing decimal 25 per cent, of fat in excess of the amount required by the regulations.” I In the same report, last paragraph ’but one, appeared the following:— ants wilfully added water.” This paragraph is also quite incorrect, iiis Worship having found that the ! defendants did not wilfully add water. I.- - ■ I We very much regret that these mistakes occurred, and tender an apology to Messrs. Bryant and Co., Ltd., and Mr. Strothers.
