Mr. Henderson, of Mohaka, is visiting Napier. Dr. and Mrs. Miller, formerly of Wairoa, arrived in Napier from the South by express last evening. Mrs. and Miss Nilsson of who have been visiting Napier, rexturned home today.
Mr. William Mortimore, left Napier by the mail train to-day for Trentham, for Home service.
Mr. and Mrs. Hunt, of Wairoa who have been visiting south, passed through Napier to-day on their return home.
Mrs. Angus McKinnon and party of Arapa-wanui, who have been visiting Napier, returned home by car yesterday.
Miss Aitchison, of Wairoa, arrived in Napier yesterday, and left by to-day’s mail train on a visit to the south.
The Freedom of the City of London will be presented to Mr. Massey on November 6th.—Press Association.
Mr. and Mrs. Gordon of Auckland, Mr. Wood, Christchurch, and Mi-. Sharp, Auckland, are on a visit to Napier. Miss A. Falvey, who has been spending a few days with Mrs. J. Sweeney, Mahora. returned homo last evening. Mr. and Mrs. T. I’. Halpin, Wellington and their son Sapper Lawrence Halpin, of the Ninth Engineers, are o a brief visit to Napier. Private Henry Miller, a member of the Somes Island military guard died in Wellington hospital from malignant endocarditis, following on influenza.—Press Association. A Sydney cable states that Professor David’s injuries are not serious. They were the result of a fall of seventy feet in a mining f shaft. Miss L. Ruddick, of the “Tribune’s” commercial staff, left Hastings this morning en route to Sydney and Melbourne on a .month’s holiday. Mr. and Mrs. F. McNutt, of Napier, left by mail train this morning for Wellington, where they will spend a short holiday wntil their son, Corporal Bert McNut, prior to his departure with the 19th. Reinforcements. They will subsequently journey to Te Arora and Rotorua on an extended visit. The remains of the late Lawrance John Kenny, were interred at the Napier cemetery this morning. Requiem Mass was solemnised at St. Patrick’s Church at 7 a.m., the funeral leaving for the cemetery at nine o’clock.
Mr. A. Blake Greene, Hastings, received a cable yesterday, informing him that his brother, Mr. Alfred Greene, died suddenly at his residence, Perth, West Australia. The late Mr. Greene was one of the pioneers of the gold mining industry in Australia, and owned large mining interests in Kalgoorlie and Cree.
