F. Goodriek. WIDENING OF TARADALE ROAD. The chairman announced that Mr Kennedy’s plan had been mislaid and it was questionable what could be done without it. The clerk said he was under the impression that some member of the old board had them. Mr. Ratcliff: Everything that goes out of the office ought to be signed for. ‘ The chairman: Can we do anything without the plant Mr. McDonald : We, 1 couldn’t do anything with them. The chairman: That’s questionable. On the motion of Air. Ratcliff the matter .was held over pending the production of the plan. WATER FOR HARPHAM ESTATE. An application bv Mr. Willan to sink a well in Neave's road, was fully considered. Mr. Ratcliffe moved that permission he given, the board to have the right to take over the well at valuation. Mr. Ellis seconded the motion. Mr McDonald opposed the motion on the ground that a 3in. well, such as Mr. Willan desired to sink, would be of no use to the Harpham estate. Air. Harpham also opposed the motion on similar grounds. The eha irman supported the motion, and said that :i more water was required for the estate it might b- found better to sink two 3in. pipes in different positions. Air. Harpham said Mr. AVillan was only making the application and was not the purchaser of the property. It was decided to give Air. Ellis (owner of the property) permission to sink the well, it being a condition tha a 2in. pipe shall be extended to the road, and the board to have the right to take over the well at valuation.

PARKS COMMITTEE. Mr. A. B. Davis was elected chair- ’ man of the Parks Committee on the motion of Mr. Jarvis. Mr. Harpham declined to be nominated. _The clerk read the draft of lease ot an additional section for the park from Air. Golding to the board. Mr. Goodriek asked if it was necessary to take over this land. The chairman said the section was, if the board ultimately purchased the park, well worth £5O, because it squared the land off. The rent was £2 10/- a year. It was decided to recommend the board to approve of the leave. Air. Ratcliff objected to a clause that made it compulsory for the board to maintain the boundary fence for all time, and it was recommended that the chairman of the board should mention this to the solicitor. WORKS AND ROADS COM. MITTEE. On the motion of Air. AlcDonald, Afr. Goodriek was elected chairman. A letter was received from Mr. A. H. Burr, complaining that, owing to the grade of Moeller road the overflow from his well does not get away. Referred to Mr. Goodriek and the chairman of the board with power to act. Air. Jarvis mentioned that the metalling contractor was making big ruts in tne road to the nightsoil pit, and the contractor for the latter objected to keep the road in order for the former.—Metalling contractor to be notified not to use the road. Considerable discussion took place regarding the property recently purchased from Air. Beatson, and it was decided to inspect the ground and make a recommendation to the board. On the motion of Mr. Jarvis, it was decided to recommend that the permanent surfaceman should >be appointed foreman, at a regular wage, and instructed to supply a monthly report. FINANCE COMMITTEE.
