Sir Joseph Ward’s third son. Lieutenant Gladstone, motoring through London, collided with a tram in the darkened streets. Ward, interviewed, said he and Mr. Massey were highly’ satisfied with the New Zealand hospital arrangements. The accommodation was excellent and the men were grateful and cheerful. It is understood that Mr. Massey and Sir J. G. Ward have reached an agreement which will result in considerable benefit to New Zealand meat producers. They are now endeavouring to arrive at a settlement of the cheese question with prospects of success.
