HAVELOCK NORTH.
The concert held in aid of the i British Red Cross funds last even- i ing was a most pleasant and sue- j cessful function. There was a good- I 1., attendance of the public, the hall J being nearly full. The stage was tastefully arranged and the effect most pleasing. The programme was as follows:—Song. “Myself When Yeung.” Mr. Hall: violin solo. “Mazurka de Concert,” Miss Yeoland ; song, “The Rumanian Mountains.” Miss Natusch : song, (a) “The Old Flagged Path,” (b) “The Smoking Room,” Mr. Razell Wood; ’cello solo. “Movements from Sonata." Miss Hartgill; song, “The Waters of Babylon,” Mr. Hall; song. “Sink lied Sun,” Miss Natusch; song, (a) “To My First Love,” (b) “You’d Better Ask Me,” Mr. Hall; recitation, Mr. Wood ; violin solo, “Legenda.” Miss Yeoland ; a sketch, “Melodrama in the Making,” Miss King; ’cello solo, “Slumber Song,” .Miss Hartgill ; song, “Tired Hands” (an evensong), Mr. Wood. The items were all very much enjoyed, some receiving double and even triple encores. The entertainment will result in a net return of about £l4, and the organisers are to be congratulated on the success that crowned their efforts. After the concert the performers were entertained at supper by Mr. and Mrs. A. Hunter.
