Among the show attractions is an ingenious piece of mechanism in the shape of a Caterpillar tractor, which was in full working order and is exhibited by the Tourist Motor Company, Hastings. There is also a “Samson” sieve-grip agrimotor on exhibition.

At the military parade at Dunedin on Saturday, the Hon. J. Allen will present the D.C.M. to Sapper A. L. Caselberg, of the Signal Troop of the New Zealand Mounted Rifles Brigade, and to Alex Campbell, father of Sergeant J. Campbell, of the Otago Mounted Rifles, who won the medal at Gallipoli but was killed in action in France. —Press Association.

Next Saturday will be observed in Hastings as “British Red Cross Day,” and a house to house collection will be made in aid of the British Red Cross Funds. The proceeds from the Red Cross shop will also be devoted to this fund. Miss Maddison, seertary for the Red Cross workers will be the Hastings Secretary for the fund. The Red Cross shop will be open all day Friday in order to receive contributions. Exhibitors at the Show are asked to contribute as many of their exhibits as passible. A large deputation of. women waited on the Hon. A. L. Herdman to-day to urge the appointment of women police for Court work, and to safeguard the welfare of women and children in the streets. The speakers included Lady Stout, who referred to the good work done by women police elsewhere. The Minister, replying, said the deputation must recognise that it would be folly to appoint women with full powers as police officers. He intended, however, to request Government to appoint additional police matrons for Court work. This would go a long way towards meeting the deputation’s request.—Press Association.
