ENTERTAINMENTS.

THE VICTOR PRINCE REVUE CO. The Victor Prince Revue and Vaudeville Company opened a three-nights’ season in the Municipal Theatre, Hastings, last night. There was a fair attendance, and the programme submitted was a thoroughly laughable one. The bill is headed “Full Steam Ahead,’’ which means that the fun is fast and furious. The company is a capable one, possessing several artists of note. The singing, dancing and dialogues were exceptionally good, the audience being kept in roars of laughter from start to finish. The company will present' an entire change of programme to-night, finish. Owing to the great success last night the programme will be repeated again this evening. BAKER BROS’. CIRCUS. Patrons at the show to-morrow will have the opportunity of enjoying an entertainment that has seldom been shown on the grounds. AVe refer to Baker Bros. Circus and Vaudeville Co. In addition to vaudeville, aerobatic, vocal and other items by the Baker Sisters, Willie Baker, Kiolo (Japanese wonder), and the AValkofsky- Sisters, Carlo Camallaria will be seen in his wonderful muscular developments. i “MY T SWEETHEART.” The delightful musical “My | Sweetheart,” will be produced by a] local cast at the Napier Municipal! Theatre next Monday night, and also on the evening of Saturday, 28th. inst. | Briefly, the story of .“My Sweetheart.” I deals with the experiences of Tony Faust, who, hearing that he has inherited much wealth left by his uncle, a count, leaves Holland for America. I In the latter country he falls a victim to a fair adventuress, Mrs. Fiuter, who be’ieving herself to be a widow, and being attracted by Tony’s affluence, ‘ seeks to win the affections of the rustic; youth from Europe After passing > through inany phases, the plot reveals; the fact that Tony is displaced as the | Count’s heir, and just at the same, period, Mrs. Flufer’s husband sends, word to the effect that Iris' decease was' no more than a rumour. Tony returns to Holland and eventually naarries > Tina, “My Sweetheart.” The story: has a happy ending, as of course ail; good stories should. The various characters are all happily cast, and as the piece has been in active rehearsal for) some time past asi acceptable present- j ation is assured. The box plan opens > at Howe Bros, to morrow morning, j and day sales are at Rosa’s. • ’ | 20th MONTHLY 1/- POP. j

The 20th of the series of monthly entertainments in aid of War relief fund* which have beep held in Hastings since March, 1915, takes place in Everybody’s Picture Theatre on Thursday night, a second performance being given on Friday. The popularity of the “Pops” is sb well established that nothing need be said of their excellence. In AVellington it is said that the Hastings Send-offs and the Monthly Pops., are the best things of their sort accomplished in the Dominion, and the organiser of the latter has received letters from many people anxious for information as to how to set about arranging the same sort of regular money raising scheme in other towns. The Hastings audiences have already contributed nearly £BOO in shillings'' to various funds. The extra 6d for booking makes a bigger difference than the booker imagines, both to his own com-j fort and to the evening’s takings. The programme at Everybody’s is going to be one of the finest yet submitted, being given in the form of a music hall entertainment. First there will be special war pictures shown, which have! been got from AVellington by Mr. Me-1 Cormick. They wiJ deal entirely with! the troops at the front. Then there will be songs by Miss Phoebe Parsons of AVellington, the well-known soprano; by the Rev. A. F. Hall and Mr. Razell Wood, a recitation by Mrs. AV. A. AA rhitlock, and a violin solo by Mr. E. Parker. The accompaniments will be by Mrs. Morrie AVopd, and overtures arid incidental music by Everybody’s splendid orchestra. Then there will be tea and coffee and cool drinks, , and “smokes,” so that no one need leave the theatre, and everybody can be happy 1 The second half of the programme will be arranged in the same Order, and will finish with the singing of popular choruses by the audience. The box plan will be open at the Show Grounds to-day and to-morrow, from 2 to 4 p.m. and at all other times at Hall ana Son’s. Don’s forget that the extra 6d counts to the good all round.
