Napier and Hast z Mr. Ambrose Wellwood, who is in ill health, was to-day granted six months leave of absence from the Hawke’K Bay A. and P. Society’s Mr. H. N. Coleman, who has enlisted for active service, to-day resigned from the H.B. A. and P. Society’s committee. His resignation - was accepted with regret, asd Mr. H. B. Kay was elected to fill the vacancy on the committee. Messrs T. A. Heath (Napier), N, Johnston (Havelock North), William Webb (Hastings), Stanley Goodwin (Tikokino), J W Stead (Petane) and J. Fitzgerald (Napier) were today elected members of the H B. A. and P. Society. Demands have been framed by the Agricultural and Pastoral Workers’ Conference for* a new agreement for shearers and shed hands in the Wellington district. For shearers a rate • 25/- per 100 with rations is sought, for shed hands a minimum of £2 10/per week and found, for cooks a minimum of £4 a week, wool pressers 1/9 pfr bale, with a minimum of £3 per v week. —Press Association.
