TWO STEAMERS DESPATCHED' LAST WEEK. SIX STEAMERS NOW LOADING. (pee PEES® ASSOCIATION.! I Wellington, Aug. 10. ' The Prime Minister has received a memorandum from the Imperial Meat Supply Committee, which show’s that during the past week two steamers were dispatched, carrying between them 38,648 carcases of mutton (wethers), 32,714 carcases of mutton (ewes), 69,513 carcases of lamb. 10,806 quarters of beef. The total f.o.b value of same, excluding storage, was £155,061. i -There are six steamers at present loading meat in the Dominion. EIGHT TO LOAD IN SEPTEMBER ■ A cablegram from the High Commissioner, dated 4|h inst, on the subject of tonnage, states that the London Tonnage Committee has arranged for the Leitrim to load meat in the Dominion daring the month. The vessel is due about the 21st inst. This brings the number of "steamers available for September loading to eight, i.e., the Leitrim, Devon, Tongariro, Arawa, Pakeha, Zealandic, Delphic, and Port Napier. The quantity of meat to be lifted by these vessels will amount to approximately ( 750,000 601 b carcases, j MEAT IN STORE. I The meat held in store on account : of the Imperial Government in the : various works on July 22 consisted : of: —Mutton (601 b 'fcarca.ses) 477,943 ' wethers; ewes, 401,233 ; lamb, i 562,018 ; beef, 578,627 quarters ; ■ mutton pieces, 10.464. If the ■ . estimated killings for September 30 ! be added to this quantity, viz., 77,000, i and deduction made of shipments ! estimated to take place during SepI tember, the result will show that ! approximately three-quarters of a ' million 601 b carcases will remain in '• store on September 30 for which ’ shipping facilities wdl be required. i The quantity in store at the same | date last year amounted to 665,992 . 601 b carcases.
