THE BRITISH RAID
DAMAGE DONE AT GHENT. ■—* I [AUSTRALIAN AND N.Z. CABLE ASSN.] (Received 11,( 11.40 a.m.) Amsterdam, Aug. 10. The arsenal at Ghent was half destroyed by our recent air raid. The workmen took panic. There were eighty German casualties. THE RECENT RAIDS USUAL PERVERSION OF TRUTH. [AUSTRALIAN AND N.Z. CABLE ASSN.] London, Aug. 10. A German wireless message states that several naval airship squadrons bombed with the largest explosives and incendiary bombs the English naval bases and industrial establishments of military importance m the coastal counties from Northumberland to Norfolk. It was a clear night and the results were everywhere observed. There were powerful explosions at th iron works and benzol factories at Middlesborough, large fires in the harbour establishments at Hull and Hartlepool, explosions in the Tyne yards and fires in industrial establishments at Whitby.
The Press Bureau comments on this as the usual perversion of the truth.
