WAR LOAN CERTIFICATES.
FOR SMALL INVESTORS. In addition to the War Loftn Bonds whosi issue by the Dominion Government is prominently advertised on anotlu r pagf of this issue, it has be< n decided to offer facilities for the small investor to “do his bit” by subscribing for small amounts. In 01 dir to enable him or her, to do this there have been made available for purchase over the counter at monev order ofikm certificates, signed bv the postmaster and in the followingform — Dominion of New Zealand War Loan Certificate. Issued under the Finance Act, 1916. On presentation at any Money Order Office in New Zealand the bearer of this certificate will receive the sum of one pound sterling five years after date thereon. According to the circular which fiaa been issued by the Finaqxc Minister —“ThtSe certificates milk be obtained at any postal order office in New Zealand, aaa, only at such offices On payment g>f ( 16/- ni cash f |i certificate for £l, payable m five years, will be issued; and on payment of £8 a certificate for £lO, payable m five years. (see advertisement) The war loan certificates are for the small in <sioi.| He receives the same inb lost as large investor, and the amount payable at the end of five yec> h includes compound intei< st at* 4 J per cent, on the put chase price The certifivates vvill be putable to bearer and can, therefore be sold 01 transferred (by incie delivery) fiom one person to another.” These certificates will be specially attractive to those who are desirous of accumulating small funds at a steady rate ot interest substantially better than that offered by the Savings Bank, which now stands at per cent and is liable to fluctuation that may take the shape of reduction. In addition to this, the Minister points out that an opportunity is thus offered to those wno are, for one reason or another, prevented from tendering service to give play to the patriotic desire to help in a practical way to bring the war to a sucessful and speedy conclusion.
