Japan will maintain the Open door policy .in China. There is a full understanding with Great Britain, who welcomes the convention as endorsing the AngloJapanese Alliance. The “New York Times comments: —We need to act unless we are content to see our commercial opportunties in China pass exclusively into other hands. I Reuter learns that Great Britain has expressed satisfaction at the I Russo-Japanese treaty of alliance, ■which is regarded in every way as strengthening the Angle-Japanese | Alliance and consolidating the relations of the Allies in the Far East.
