THE GERMAN VERSION

OF THE MOST RECENT FIGHTING.

(Received 27, 1.55 p.m.) London, June 26. A German communique states:—There has been considerable fighting activity during the last two days on our front opposite the British and northern French wing.

An enemy night attack westward of Morthomme failed before our machine guns and artillery.

An enemy attack with the strongest forces on the right bank of the Meuse against our positions at Froide Terre terminated during the evening in an utter failure, the enemy being repulsed with great losses.

After some hand-to-hand fighting in our lines, our air squadrons bombed the British camp eastward of Douillers.
