“ANZAC DAY”

AT HAYWARD’S, NAPIER. ; To-night the management of the Empire Theatre, have great pleasure in screening the latest and most interesting film, “Anzac Day,” which bongs memories of the Boys so dear to us. The London celebrations of the great Tending at Gallipoli is a very grand sight, and shows many of our brave at Kingsway and Westminster Abbey. We see our heroes, beind decorated by. General Sir F. M. Birdwood, “The &oul of Anzac, and later making themselves mem» at a fete given m theif honour on that memorable dav. “Anzac” means much to us all, and’therefore we must not miss this soul-stirring picture. ALLEN DOONE COMPANY. i Allen Doone,. the world's greatest Irish comedy-actor, play-producer, songauthor and singer; also top-notch delineator of Irish dramatic characterisations is again visiting Hastings, and adding fresh laurels and greater triumphs to his already long list of magnificent successes. Since his last visit here, he has added a number of new and entertaining plays to his previous’ repertoire and in which he and his clever company are making more than a welcome re-appearance and judging by the marvellous successes already achieved and the record patronage accorded them throughout the Dominion the future threatens to bring bigger popularity than ever to our affable, delightful, likeable, versatile IrishAmerican cousin, who won such high favour from all classes on his previous run through our play-loving country. On Monday night next, June 19th. Mr. Doone and his company are to appear at the Municipal Theatre and will stage the dainty comedy drama “Molly Bawn.” On Tuesday, June 20th, anotiier big success, “The Parish Priest” will he staged. The plans are on view at Hall and Son’s ; day sales at Cohen's. The company appear at Waipawa on June 21st and at Napier on th<; 22nd, 23rd and 24th.

HASTINGS POPULAR CONCERTS

Rehearsals for the two comedies to l»e presented at the 16th Monthly 1,Pop. to-morrow night arc going splendidly, the various performers showing the greatest enthusiasm oi er the work. Mrs. George Hartshorn reports all 'a ell rind in readiness with “Aunt Pricilla’s Lover,” and "A Storm in a Teacup” is raging happily. The audience is assured of much diversion, and a laugh is good for us all. Miss Gwynetli Thompson arrives to-night from Dannevirko, and her dances are being greatly looked forward to. The concert programme is a splendid one, though short, as the plays are long. Book your seats at Hall and Son's without furtiier delay if you have not already done so. Msis Corallie Stanley, one of Wellington’s professional ragtime artists, who about three years ago. delighted Hastings audiences with lier <•!< rer turns, will give two items gratis. Mr. I*. Tombs mill be her accompanist. PAUL DUFAULT. Paul Default, the popular FrenchCanadian tenor, will open his Hastings season at the Municipal Tiieatv on Wednesday, June 21st. It is anticipated that his admirers here will give him a right royal welcome. Mr. Dnfault opened his tour in New Zealand, instead of Australia as heretofore, and bis first concert was giv. n in Dune-din on Easter Monday. Dunedin is proverbially cold, but so great was the enthusiasm aroused during Mr. Dufault's Dunedin season that it was found impossible to accommodate the crowds desirous of hearing him, though the stage was called into requisition. An extra concert was announced for the benefit of those who had been unable to gain admission during the three previous ones, and the house was completely sold ‘ but the day after the annourcemont. j Both in Christchurch and Auckland tho ' same enthusiasm prevailed.
