Tho ‘ Telegraaf’s” Petrograd correspondent states ihat the Japanese Government has promised the mobilisation of Japanese industry to assist the Allies, especially Russia. EXTENT OF JAPANESE ASSISTANCE. (Received 2. 10.35 a.m.) Paris, Sept. 1. Baron Hayashi, the Japanese ambassador to Rome, states that the public are net aware of the extent to wbit'h Japan is co-operating with the Allies. When it is possible to tell the world, ii will lie astonished at what Japan has done, is doing, and will do. "The Russians,” he says, “are our nearest neighbours, therefore we are tlie most useful to them.
