A NECESSARY PRECAUTION'. AVellington, Aug. 1". An Order-in Council, just gazet ted, provides that it the .Attorney General is satisfied in respect ot any company, firm or person carrying cm business in Xew Zealand that any alien enemy, whether resident in Xew Zealand or elsewhere, is interested in that business and that the business is being carried on under representations calculated to mislead the public as to the persons interested in that business, the At-torney-General may by notice in the Gazette prohibit that company, firm or person from continuing to carry on business in Xew Zealand.

AVriting to the "Tribune'’ Mrs. t>. M. B. Russell encloses the following statement of account of the money received for Lady's Godley’s Convalescent Home for Xew Zealand soldiers :- ~ ’■ Amount contributed as acknowledged in the "Tribune” 682 11 6 Amount remitted to Lady Godley 550 0 0 Expenses of remittance 10 9 2 Amount remitted to England to provide comforts for wounded soldiers 62 10 0 Balance in hand 59 12 4 Total £692 11 6 Mrs. Russell says: "I would like to thank the many contributors for their very generous response. 1 propose to hold the balance in hand in the meantime for the benefit of our wounded soldiers from Xew Zealand to leave the fund open for further contributions that may come to hand for the same object.” The following additional contributions have been received for Mrs. A. H. Russell’s Convalescent Home Fund: -
