HEAVY WAR EXPENDITURE.
EXPECTED IO REACH £600.000 A DAY. and “stoney bvn” hkhvicb.’ (Received 11. 9 a.m.) London, Aug. 10. The war expenditure in Canada to date totals £18.000,000. The Minister of Finance estimates that war expenditure will extend to £600.000 a day. The gene’-al financial conditions are increasingly good. Referring to the two battalions of the Trenthani Regiment, the Hon. J. Allen (Minister for Defence) states that h.> had i-a Mod to General Godley stating that the Government would not only provide reinforcements according to the original arrangement, but also for the new battalions. —Press Assoc’n.
