WAIPUKURAU BOROUGH COUNCIL

(Own Correspondent). A special meeting of the Borough Council was held in the Council Chambers on Monday evening. Present : The Mayor, Crs. Smales. Warren and Stoddart.

The Mayor explained the procedure necessary tor the arranging of the loan. The necessary preliminaries had been carried out. and tire business of the meeting was to con firm the special order. He then inti mated that he proposed to call a special meeting of the public, so that the necessity for the loan and the value of the procedure could be, placed plainly before the ratepayers. The public meeting, of course, wa.s not necessary, but such procedure was in the interests of all concerned.

The proposal, which was carried unanimously, was seconded by Ur. Warren.
