A meeting of subscribers io the local patriotic funds w-is held to dismiss the question of the disposal of the funds now in the hands of the committee and also to appoint a permanent committee to receive all donations, either in money or kind. The chairman stated that alter having donated f J2S to the Belgian fund and E 25 to the Wounded Soldiers’' Fund, there was at present a credit balance of Cll7. On the motion of Mr. W. Johnston, seconded by Mr. . E. J. White, it was decide,! to hold, the available balance until such time’ as-it should be finally decided w he-i ther a Central Dominion Committee i shall be set up in Wellington or not. ’ Lt was also decided to set up .a central control committee on tlie Fmes mentioned above, and that it should Be distinctly understood that lhe said comriiitt* e was not for the purpose of getting up entertainments <>r anything of that kind, but tor the purpose of receiving all subscriptions' and making all disbursements and generallv protecting the local patriotic funds, but that there was nothing to pievent any member of this committee from joining any other committee for any purpose.whatever. The following were nominated and unanimously elected to serve as members of the permanent local central patriotic committee: Messrs. R. J. Sidwell. J. E. White. "W. Johnston. E. J. Collins. Huia Ponoa, A. Healey. Mi’. E. J. White was elected secret ary and treasurer. The eommittee wishes it to be stated that it ■ will be pleased to receive any donations either in money or kind, for which an official receipt will be given and that all donations will be dts- . bursed in accordance with iht- wisa ‘of the donor.
