Rome, Aug. 9. The Italian bombardment of Borge ( 15 miles east of Trient) destroyed about ten miles of railway line. Two trains were blown up, one containing soldiers, half of whom were killed. OFFICIAL. In the Tmvile zone (north-west of Trient) the Alpini dispersed the enemy entrenched south-east of Ercaxallo peaks, capturing a quantity of munitions. We repulsed Italian attacks on Paluzzo C 35 miles north of Udine) and Verrnigliano. The enemy’ on the 6th and /th of August advanced in the Tyrol across Porcellina and Dimontozzo, but retreated under our artillery.

STRENGTH OF THE AUSTRIAN FORCES. fßeceived 10, 9 a.m.) Vienna, Aug. 9. Milan reports that six Austrian armies are engaged against Russia, and each is furnishing an army corps for the Isonzo front. The Austrian headquarters has selected the youngest and most vigorous regiments. The Austrian Alpine regiments have also been withdrawn from Russia for use in Italy. The total numbers of Austrians at present fighting Italy are: 200,000 on the Isonzo and Carso, and 40,000 in the Fyrol and Trentino.

ITALIAN REJECTS RECALLED. (Received 10, 5.30 a.m.) Paris, Aug. 9. Reports from Turin state that Italy is summoning the 1892-4 classes previously rejected medically, for further examination.
