ORMONDVILLE.

The monthly meeting of the Ormondville School Committee was held on Wednesday . Present Messrs. B. Groom (chair). G. Donghi, 1). Mr Leod. and Miss Webb. All apology was received from the chairman (Mr, N. Nikolaisen. The master's report shoved that the roll number had decreased from 65 hi 50 and' Ihe average, attendance for the past month was 48. The master suggested in his report that the school bo painted and new desks and a flag be secured. Miss Smith commenced her duties as assistant mistress at the beginning of the year. Last month Air. Bligh visited the school and gave an instructive address to the senior scholars. The school had received a gilt of cricket material from Mrs. Willis, for which the hoys are very grateful. The renort was adopted. The visiting committee commented most favourably upon the enthusiastic and business like tone of the school, this being particularly noticeable in Aliss Smith’s room. The committee express satisfaction at the progress of the school. The secretary was instructed to ask the board to asphalt conveniences, for new blinds, and a tank for the master’s residence, as recommended by the visiting committee. The works which the master mentioned in his report were held over for the incoming committee to deal with. The secretary reported that the balance-sheet, showing a credit balance of £6 3/2, had been forwarded to the board. Messrs. B. Groom and G. Donghi were appointed a visiting committee for the ensuing month. One account was passed for payment. Steady rain commenced falling on Wednesday night and continued all day’ Thursday. It was the heaviest downpour experienced in this district since last May. , Early crops should benefit by the. downpour, whilst residents are busy gathering mushrooms, which are most plentiful.
