CROQUET.

The annual meeting of the. Hastings Bowling Green Croquet Club was held yesterday afternoon, Mr. F. King presiding. There was a good attendance of ladies. The annual report tor the year 1913-14 was submitted, which showed a most successful year- The report specially noted the loss the club hau sustained in the death of Mrs. C. Hughes, one of the leading players of the club, and special thanffs was tendered to Mrs. M. Dawley (more familiarly known as Miss E. O’Reilly), for a proffered- annual subscription to provide a c, ub trophy. Mrs. Beamish was specially thanked for placing at the disposal of the club her croquet green for competitions.

The report and balance-sheet were adopted, a satisfactory credit balance of £lB being shown. The following officers were elected :—President, Mr. L. F. Pegler; captain. Mrs. j. R. Gillespie ; secretary and treasurer, Airs. L. F, Pegler ; committee. Afesdames T. Clarkson. J. E. Hall, F. Watson. H. N. ’Whitehead, J. Monteith; W. Cook, aud captain and secretary; handicappers ,captain, secretary and Airs. J. Hogan. A letter was received from Mr. J. E. Hall, secretary to the Bowling Club, conveying the thanks of that body for providing afternoon teas and for assistance rendered at the recent Bowling Club’s social. Tt was decided that Mrs. Pegler’s name be placed on the honours board as last year’s champion, and that Mrs. Hogan and Miss Hall divide second prize as rnnners-up.

The uncompleted contest in the junior grade was decided by lei, Mrs. F. McLeod and Mis. Cook winning. Votes of thanks were accorded to the chairman and the secretary.
