Mr. T. Honnor left Hastings for Wniigiuiui tins morning. Airs. IL Stanley left Hastings for Willington this morning. Air. A. L. I). Fraser left Hastings this morning for Wellington. Captain Allan Bishop, of Hastings, and Captain John Bishop, of Napier, left lor Wellington yesterday afternoon.

Mr. and Airs. F. Lysnar arrived in Hastings from Gisborne this morning and are staying at the Carlton Club Hotel. Messrs M.artin-Baird, O. Wellwood and Hardy left Napier this morning by the Hawke’s Bay Motor Co.’s special motor car lor Wairoa.

Sir Walter Runcimau has been elected unopposed for Hartlepool, rendered vacant by the death of Sir S. W. Furness. -Press Association.

Air. L. IL F. Simpson, representative. for Air. White, architect for th(‘ Hastings Alunicipal Theatre, arrived from Wellington last night. The Rev. Lather Le Ser was taken suddenly ill immediately after preaching in the Sacred > Heart, l.’hiirch. T’imaru. on Sunday evening. His condition is serious.

The death is announced of Air. John Alain, of Oamaru, at the age .of 81 years of age. He was one of that band (the "Mail” states) who, with unremitting zeal, laid the foundations of a prosperous town. Commander Blunt, xvho is in com mand of the torpedo squadron with the battle cruiser Fearless as flag ship, was formerly in Australia. Fie was commander of H.M.S. Pioneer. The Fearless distinguished herself in the North Sea engagement.
