Operations on the Last Prussian front are now completed on Russian 1 territory, where I tie Germans are unable to utilise the railways owing to the different gauge.
(Received 21, 9.40 a.m.) OFFICIAL.- -General Rennenkampf lias compelled the Germans to retreat at several points in East Prussia. The Russians have captured 36 howitzers and sent them to be used in the attack on Ivangorod ,in Galicia. The German army corps under General von I retza was again completely' defeated near Sandonierz ; only its remnants remain in Galicia. The Russians have occupied the fortifications of Siniawa and Samboi. The Austrian rearguard was driven out of Vischta across the San. The Russians burned Faroslaw, which was occupied by the Austrians, and captured 3000 ammunition waggons. They also took prisoner 3000 men. The Russians seized ten guns in the Sandoinie and Rabomyail region. Rome, Sept. 20. A Petrograd message states that the Russians completely cut off General Denkyl’s army forming the extreme left from Przemysl to Cracow, preventing its junction with General Huffenburg. General Denkyl is making a desperate attempt to reach Cracow. The Russians are advancing from Sandomic to cut off his retreat.
RUSSIA’S SIX MILLION MEN. DISPOSITION OF THE ARMIES. Petrograd, Sept. 20. Russia has completed tiie mobilisation of six million men. Only half a million are operating in East Prussia, and half a million in Galicia. The centre arm},- of 900,000 is advancing on Posen. Other two millions are hurrying westward from Siberia, Turkestan, and the Caucasus, and the rest are acting as a reserve. GERMAN SIEGE ARTILLERY CAPTURED. Petrograd, Sept. 19. The Russians captured a siege artillery train of 36 howitzers sent from Breslau to attack Hangoroo. PRESSING THE POLES. GERMAN METHOD OF ENLISTMENT. Petrograd, Sept. 19. The Germans occupying the Kalisch district ordered all the inhabitants to enrol in the German army. The men fled, but some of the fugitives were caught, and twenty were hanged. The Russians at Jaworow .east of Lemberg) captured the convoys of the 6th and 14th Austrian corps, with 30 guns and enormous quantities of ammunition and 5000 prisoners. They won an important rearguard action all along the line. GERMAN REINFORCEMENTS. LEFT TO PERISH. Petrograd. Sept. 19. German troops were interspersed among the Austrians to raise the latters’ .-.pints. After the Russian attack in one locality the Austrians fled, while the Germans perished to the last man. Rome, Sept. 19. Advices from Vienna state that the Austrians hope in the forthcoming battle at PrzemyJ to hold up the Russians who are concentrating in the vicinity until the large German forces arrive to cru~h-thC Russian troops from Poland.
