CABLE RATES.
REQUEST FOR REDUC TION. (Received 21. 10.25 a.m.) Sydney, Sept. 21. The Chamber of Commeice is asking- the Eastern and Pacific rubles to reduce the cable rate owing to the exlra cost of transmitting in plain language. Both Boards are considering the question but the Eastern is a ready overloaded, and is tmlikelv to obtain anv further increase of traffic by reducing rates. Tlie manager states Australia <it present is better served than an.v country. The delay of messages on the China route is much grenter.
