RANGER’S REPORTS. Various lessees reported on by the ranger were dealt with as under :—

W. Murray, section 12, block 1, Tahoraite. —Must take up residence by September 30th. otherwise holding will be forfeited. A. Dean, section 6, Otoko.—To be forfeited.

A. L. Finlayson, sectio n 7. Otoko. —To be forfeited unless satisfactory explanation of non-residence is given before the next meeting.

Lockwood, jun., section 15, block 12, Uawa. An application from D. Couper, W. G. Couper, and W. E. L. Smith for run 66, Taramarama, was referred to the Valuer General. CORRESPONDENCE. T. Hyde acknowledeged a resolution passed by the board appreciat ing his past services, and enumerated some of the measures which he had tried to have carried out.- Received. G. Laiinbeer applied for a yearly lease of 248 acres in the Tahoraite block. —Board sees no advantage in altering term of lease. J. W. Mcßobbie applied for twelve months’ exemption from personal residence on section 1, block 15. Waihau.—Declined. The ranger reported that it would cost £287 10/- to make a road giving access to section 2, block 5, Makaretu.— Copy to be sent to Mr. G. Hunter, M.P. , The ranger recommeneded that section 7, block 7, Sherenden, be set aside as a school site.—Agreed to. The Official Assignee reported on runs Nos. 3 and 36. Waitara, in the bankrupt estate of Hermann Lewis. Forfeited. J. Ryan objected to half an acre of land being taken to give road access to sections 201 and 202, block 5 Takapau.—Land to be taken. T. C. Coombs, lessee of section 38, block 1, Tahoraite, asked to have an area resumed for a drain.- Amicable arrangement to be suggested. A. G. Crowe applied for cxemp tion from residence on section 8 block 1, Takanau. and to appoint (k / H. Crowe, as substitute.—Approv- ' eel.. A. M. Mackay asked for a change of tenure of ‘section 2, block 8, Woodville.—Approved Mrs. E. A. Hall applied to have land (section 13, Gisborne) loaded with the expense of installation of sewerage.—Granted conditionally. W. A. Carruthers applied to surreneder O.R.P. 525, block 2, Waiau. —Will be accepted on payment of arrears, of rent. H. Baker asked for permission to take shingle from the Majiawatu river bed.—Board offers no objection.
