COLONIAL MUTUAL LIFE SOCIETY Melbourne, May 28.
At the annual meeting of the Colonial Mutual Life Society, the report and balance-sheet wore adopted. The chairman said the report issued some time ago was the result of an inquiry, ami was a conclusive reply to averments of a few former employees of the society. These averments temporarily interfered with profit-prcdlic-ing sources of the business, and the directors d-v/ded to strengthen the reserve fund rather than distribute a bonus. In the meantime an intermediate bonus will he paid to all policies maturing during the triennial period. The society’s reserve fund is over C’.J.lilhUK!'!, and the annual income £725,1)00. TALLOW. Dalgety and Co.. Ltd., advise having received the following cable advice from their London house: —•‘Medium and inferior descriptions are 3d per cwt lower since our previous advices, whilst other descriptions are 3d cwt higher.”
