CONCEALMENT OF BIRTH.

[PER PRESS ASSOCIATION.] Auckland. Alay 29. At the inquest on the body of a newly-born child, a statement made tc tile police by the mother of the child. Alary Agnes Brown, was put in. She stated that she was a single woman. 25 years of age. and she admitted she gave birth to the child. It was dead and she put it in a dress basket. The coroner found that the death of the child had resulted from hemorrhage or exposure owing to the absence of skilled assistance. Subsequently Alary Brown was arrested and charged with concealment, of birth. She was remanded and bail granted in a surety of £25.
