A Yakutsk telegram stall's that parts of an <Jd balimm Imvi- been found in a i'erest in Eastern SitmiJ-i. It is supposed they .ire the remains cf Andree's balloon. [Herr Andree and M. Eckholm left Tromso on June 15th. 1896 for a balloon expedition to the North Pole, but returned without being able to affect an ascent. Cn July llih, 1897, he ascended in tlie Eagle with Drs. Strindberg and Fraenkel from Danos Island, north of Sjiitzbergen (617 miles from the Neu th Pole, and was never heard of again. |
