BRITISH BOYS.

FOR NEW ZEALAND FARMS. I Referring to the attack which has been made upon the Government, and in view cf the fact that in accurate and misleading- statements have been made in public in certain quarters in reference to the- policy of the Government in introducing tc this countrv from Great Britain a number of boys with farm experience. the Wellington "Post” says it may be wed to state exactly’ what being done in this matter. Mr. Cameron, an agricultural expert, employed in the High Commission er’s Office. London, has been de tailed by the Immigration Depart ment of that office- to proceed into rural districts in the United King dom to select a number of boys with fgrm experience, .and arrange for their passages to New Zealand. The first fifty boys will arrive in Auck land by the Ayrshire on the 16th instant. Various fanners through out the Dominion har e over sub scribed for the first fifty boys, and have placed in the Bank of New Zea land th<> sum of £‘slo, representing £l(> for each hoy. The second let of fifty boys have also been subscribed for. and they leave London to day by the s.s. Suffolk, arriving at Auck land about the beginning of March. Applications have come in to the Department from the North Cape tc the Bluff for the employment of these hoys. As to the first fifty to arrive, it has been arranged that twentyseven are to go to farms in the South Island, and twenty-four to farms in the North Island. The boys are coining out in charge of a re sponsible officer, and provision has been made for games for their re creation whilst on the way out. and when they land here they will be conducted straight to their new homes and employment. It may be explained that other colonies are carrying out- a similar polipy to New Zealand in this respect. For instance. Victoria is asking for 3000 boys, and Canada is taking them Wythe thousand.
