GUNBOAT TO THE RESCUE

Sydney, Dec. 22.
Preparations are being made for the despatch of the French gunboat Zeele to Palmerston Island to rescue the barque Latour d’Auvergne’s pastaways. The French Consul has also communicated with New Caledonia with a view to the despatch of a relief vessel from there.
