The King’s Theatre was again well attended last evening for th esecoud screening of the current programme. THE COMBINED BAND CONCERT. Arrangements are well in hand for the United Band Concert, by the Napier City and Hastings Town bands, to be held at the Band Rotunda, Queen Square, Hastings, on Sunday afternoon. The idea of these united performances is to foster a -fraternal spirit between the two bands, and at the same time to stimulate public interest in band matters gcnerallv . A collection will be made at the gates and the proceeds of same shared equally between the two bands. “We shall be quite satisfied if the collections at these united performances cover expense-, said Air. Tombs, speaking to a reporter, both bands are steadily improving and the public are recognising this already as far as Hastings is concerned. Napier City Band has improved imhienaely since Air. C. \V. -McConnell took command and if they stick to him I feel sure that they will make good, as “Charlie" is a most indefatigable worker, a capable musician and enthusiastic in band matters. This “reciproeity"scheme emanates from the City Band and has Leoii most enthusiastically taken tip by our members. We sjiall retur.'i the compliment l>\ visiting Napier next month." It is hoped that the enterprise of the bands will be re warded by a large attendance of the public and generous eontribut ions.
