BARIOT CHANGES OWNERS. ■(Received 3. 10.40 a.m.) Melbourne. June 3. The racecourse Bariot has been bought by C. B. Kellow for 1125 guineas. AUCKLAND WINTER MEETING. CHIEF MARSHAL WINS THE HURDLES. Auckland. June 3. The Auckland Racing Club's winter meeting is being continued in fine weather. There is a large attendance. Results :— Orakei Hurdles. — Pip 1, Poietiers 2. Ambergris 3. Scratched: Frontino, St. Lumsden and Rouge Dragoon. Poietiers was in front half-a-mile from home, when Pip challenged him and went in front, winning easily by four lengths. Rajah. Mapuna. Merrimax. Irish Maid. First Wairiki and Manuwera fell. Vic and Admiral Soult stopped. Time, 3min 30sec. Remuera Hurdles. —Chief Marshall 1. Prince Eddie 2, Bollin 3. All started. At the last fence Chief Marshall was level with Prince Eddie and Bollin. In a desperate finish Chief Marshall won by half-a-length, a length between second and third. Time. 4min. 0 3-ssec. Ranfurly Welter. —Decorate 1.
Colonel Soult 2. Antiphone 3. Scratched : Sir Rupert. Faida. Decorate took charge when three furlongs from the post and won. pulling up. by four lengths. Time. 1/nin 46 3-ssee.
DUNEDIN WINTER MEETING. Dunedin, June 3. The weather is fine for the opening of the Dunedin winter meeting, but the going is heavy. Results: — Pacific Hurdles. —Ribstone Pippin 1. Red Earl 2. Coy 3. ’Scratched : I Master Paid. Simon, and Pure Gold. Won without trouble by a neck, Coy just beating Golden Clasp on the post. Time. 3min 29sec. Brighton Handicap.—Wild Pilgrim 1. Sartorze 2, Kimona 3. Scratched : Caraid. Robert Bell and Achilla. Won by three and a-half lengths. Time. Imin 35sec. Birthday Handicap.—Gapon 1. Darringdale 2, Cornet 3. All start ed. Won by a length. Time 2mi:i 17 2 ssec.
