FOOTBALL.

HAWKE'S BAY RUGBY UNION. The Hawke’s Buy Rugby Football Union held its anna! meeting in the County Council Chambers last evening. Air. C. Douglas occupied the chair. Eight other delegates were present. The report and balance-sheet were rem! and adopted. Alessrs. I'. Fulton and F. Lomas, who represented the now defunct Napier Chib as shareholders in the Recreation Ground Company, forwarded an intimatioji that they were handing the* shares over to the union to L-e used as the nucleus of a fund for the purchase of a permanent football ground. The Dannevirke Sub union applied ! for travelling expenses in connection j with the visit of a representative team, but the secrerar.v pointed out that no claim had been lodged. The Queensland Insurance Company submitted a scheme for the insurance of playing members. —-Copy of the letter to be sent to tlie subunions for their consideration. Messrs. A. Currie and F. Mr. F. AA’ilson (pro tern.); treasurer, Air. C. D. AVilson (re-elected); trustees. Messrs. F. Logan. J. G. Herdman and AV. J. McGrath (re-appoint-ed); auditors, Messrs. Bradley and Fulton (re-appointed). The appointment of a permanent, secretary, also cf selectors, was held over until the first monthly meeting. A vote of thanks io the retiring officers was carried unanimously, and it was decided to forward a special letter of thanks to All-. F. Laws (the .union's delegate on the New Zealand

Union). Messrs. F. Laws and R. S. Bailey were appointed delegates to the New Zealand Union. The delegates on the New Zealand Unioji are to be asked to do alTrin their power to get more represewmtive teams to visit the district tins yrnr than in the past. ■' A special committee, consisting of Messrs. AVilliatns x Currie ami Pegler, was set, up to revise the challenge shield regulations. It was decided to hold a' s. venaside tournament —on a date to he fixed —to open the season.
