Mr. B. L. Fulford arrived in Napier from Taupo last evening. Mr A. Boekett returns to Hastings to-night from Wairoa and Gisborne.
The. Hon F. M. B. Fisher. Minister of Customs, will arrive in Christchurch from Wellington on Sunday, en route to- Melbourne via Bluff.
Mr. F. G. Magnusson, town clerk of Dannevirke for several years, has tendered his resignation to take effect in July next. — Press Association.
The Bev. A. Milgrew. an obi Napier boy who is stationed as a missionary in the Polynesian Islands, is at present spending a holiday in Napier.
Lord Inchcape has been formally appointed chairman of the British Indian and Australasian United Steam Navigation Co. — Press Association.
The master oi the Old People s Home at Park Island wishes to thank Messrs. E. Burdekin and R. L. Paterson for parcels of books for the patients.
At the meeting of the Hawke's Bay Land Board yesterday afternoon, the opportunity was taken to say good bye to Mr. G. M right, whose term of office as a representative of the Government on the board has now expired. The new Governor of New South Wales, and his wife. Sir Gerald and Lady Strickland, arrived at Sydney yesterday, and received an enthusiastic welcome. Sir Gerald Strickland was sworn in and presented with addresses of welcome’ from various religious bodies.
A very enjoyable and complimentary social was tendered to the Hon. R. Heaton Rhodes. PostmasterGeneral, by the constituents at Ellesmere at Lincoln last evening. There were nearly 130 prominent electors of the district present. The proceedings throughout were most harmonious, and the r' ferences to the sitting member highly eulogistic. The Prime Minister (Hon. W. F. Massey) was present, also Mr. Nosworihy, M.P.. and Mr. A S. Malcolm, M.P. A very pleasing ceremony took place this morning on the Recreation Ground. Napier, when the boys of the High School assembled to say-good-bye to their cricket coach. Mr. J. Board. The captain of the High School senior team. Master Clifford Geddis, presented Mr. Board, on behalf of the scholars, with a handsome case of pipes and embroidered pouch. Mr. Board, in thanking the boys, expressed the hope that he would meet them again, and said that Master Geddis. as captain of the High School team, had been most useful in assisting him (Mr. Board) in raising the standard of play at the school.
