AUCKLAND HOSPITAL OVERCROWDED.
SURGICAL CASES DELAYED. Auckland, March 13. At the meeting of the Auckland Hospital Board, the superintendent reported that the hospital was overcrowded and that 40 cases awaited admission. This was largely due to the increase in the number of typhoid patients and the large number of surgical cases. It was alleged that there was unnecessary delay in dealing with surgical cases, one case being quoted. Dr. McGuire asked for an inquiry, which the board agreed to hold.
