Advices have been received that the British steamer Canterbury, from Vladivostock to Colombo, with a cargo of 6500 tons of beans, struck a reef at Ogawa Island,, Japan, and sank in 30 fathoms.

A Japanese cruiser rescued the crew.

The schooner Black Albatross, with a cargo of superphosphates, struck on the Eclipse reef. Ths captain and crew were rescued with difficulty.
