THE SURGEON’S KNIFE NEEDED. Nelson, March 6. Mrs. Cole, president of the W.C.T.U., delivering an address, dealt with considerable force witn the aims and objects of the organisation. Referring to the liquor traffic, she said that the philanthropist politician. and to some extent the churches, seemed satisfied to apply a lotion here and a poultice there. When a nation was suffering with a malignant growth it needed the surgeon’s knife. Members were urged to support the pledge and the campaign for the bare majority. In conclusion Mrs. Cole said : “M e fight to protect all nearest and dearest to us. and we defy any man. be he publican or brewer, to dare say that a mother has no right to fight for her own.
