Tiie Education Department has refust d to grant the reqm st of the Hawke's Bay Education Board for a further grant of £lOO towards the Mahora school site. The original grant of the department was £B5O, but (hi- and cost £lO5O. The settlers in the locality agreed to find £lOO and tiie department was appealed to for the balance, but declined.
