Samuel’s resolution, Mr. Catheart declared the proposals relating to the Customs had neve)- been before the electorate. A prolonged argument followed between Mr. Austen Chamberlain, Mr. Bonar Law and Mr. Lloyd George concerning the possibility of establishing Protection under the Bill. Air. Lloyd George denied that the proposals infringed on Free Trade.
